Summary

China Brush helped me last longer during sex when I had an authentic version of it a few years ago. To my knowledge, it has now been discontinued by most major online sex stores.

Over the years, I’ve seen it pop up from time to time on different websites, but none consistently stock it. At the time of writing this latest update, Walmart is selling it online, which I find kind of surprising. How long they stock it for remains to be seen.

I recommend being careful if you buy it online as there have been many reports of fake versions, which makes safety a potential issue.

Review

China Brush, also known by the tongue-twister name of Suifan’s Kwang Tze Solution, is an unusual desensitizing product to help men delay ejaculation.

The main appeal is that it contains natural ingredients, instead of the usual pharmaceutical anesthetics like Lidocaine or Benzocaine.

The good news is that it helped me last much longer during sex – up to 10 minutes. The bad news is that despite the big improvement in time, I discovered two major problems with it which I’ll be discussing later in this China Brush review.

What I was also very interested in was the ingredients; there’s always something that feels mysterious about Chinese medicine and herbs – to me at least.

So I wanted to know exactly how and why China Brush works. To find out, I dug up some information about the eight main ingredients to find out exactly what I was putting on my most delicate parts.

I’ll share these findings briefly below and then discuss in more detail what I found good and bad about China Brush. If you’re not interested in my obsessive-compulsive dissection of the ingredients, scroll down a bit to find out more about how it works.

China Brush Ingredients

Please note that I didn’t waltz into a Chinese herbal remedy shop with a beaming smile and ask for a breakdown of these ingredients. This is simply a summary of some basic online research.

1. Fructus Cindii

This is a dried fruit of the Cnidium plant. It’s used in Chinese medicine to help men with impotence. It has nothing to do with holding back ejaculation as far as I can tell.

2. Cortex Cinnamomi – Cinnamon bark

Cortex Cinnamomi is listed on the World Health Organisation website, described as being used according to ‘folklore’ to treat impotence. But they also add the caveat that there’s no clinical data to support this or any other purported benefit.

According to Chinese medicine websites, it’s a potent aid for those who have a low sex drive and helps build strong internal and physical sexual energy. So again, nothing about delaying ejaculation and more about being some kind of natural Viagra.

3. Flos Caryophylli – also known as Ding Xiang and Clove

Flos caryophylli is the dried flower of the Clove tree. In one experiment involving rats, it was found to significantly increase sexual libido. It’s also apparently used to numb tooth pain by rubbing it in. Perhaps the creators of China Brush have decided that it would also numb other body parts.

4. Rhizoma Alpiniae – a kind of ginger

This root is very similar to the type of ginger used in cooking. A study on rats in 2006 found that it worked as an aphrodisiac. But I’m not a four-legged furry animal, and I’ve never noticed I feel horny after eating a ginger heavy Thai Curry either.

5. Rhizoma Atractylodis – also known as Cāng zhú

Cāng zhú is a dried Rhizome which again doesn’t appear to have any obvious connection to premature ejaculation. It’s widely used in Chinese medicine, but not apparently for any sexual reasons.

It’s used to improve fatigue and night vision though. Perhaps the creators of Kwang Tze Solution were being, well, creative.

6. Pericarpium Zanthoxyli – known as Prickyl ash Peel or Chinese Pepper

Chinese Pepper is the first China Brush ingredient that does have an anesthetic property. Native North American Indians used it as a numbing agent for toothache. So perhaps it could also help to reduce the sensitivity of the penis, and thus delay ejaculation.

7. Radix Angelicae Dahuricae – also known as Bai Zhi or Angelica

This root is also definitely known in Chinese medicine as being a pain reliever, among other uses. So there are at least two, and possibly three, China Brush ingredients that are known pain relievers. And pain relievers, if they actually work by applying directly to the skin, could help numb the penis during sex.

8. Radix Ginseng – Ren Shen

Radix Ginseng is the dried root of the Panax Ginseng herb. It’s widely used in Chinese medicine to promote good Qi – the internal energy. Research studies suggest it can help with erection problems and libido.

9. Other ingredients

Water is also used in China Brush solution to create the liquid it comes in. I’ve also read reports that it can contain Aloe and Gallstone, but I don’t know where this information is being found. As far as I know, I’ve listed all the ingredients that are included in the official Kwang Tze Solution.

Hitting the problem from different angles

On the surface, these nine ingredients appear to stand up to scrutiny: there are ingredients that work as anesthetics, and so should reduce sensitivity; others that boost libido; and a few which help with erection strength. There are even energy boosters and aphrodisiacs thrown in for good measure.

It appears to me then that China Brush was designed to work from several different angles. And it seems that they’ve found a way to combine all nine herbs and roots to good effect.

Or have they?

Problems and side effects

China Brush would appear to have the potential to help some men delay ejaculation, especially if your problem is caused mainly by physical sensitivity. 10 minutes extra? You can’t deny that that’s a huge improvement.

However, there are a couple of issues that bothered me when I used it:

  • You have to apply it 30-60 minutes before having sex. That means you have to plan sex in advance every time.
  • If you apply too much it can sting or produce a rash. I didn’t get a rash, but did feel a mild burning. And even though it disappeared after a while, it was still unpleasant. I experimented with different amounts over a few days just to be sure, and it always caused a sensation I found difficult to ignore.

I struggle to recommend a product that you need to apply so far in advance of sex and that gives a more noticeable burning sensation than basic lidocaine sprays.

Fake or authentic, and where to buy?

It seems that Suifan’s Kwang Tze Solution is as difficult to find as it is to pronounce, as many online sex shops have discontinued it.

There are also many reports of fake China Brush being sold. There are also various different theories as to which color label, type of application stick, packaging, and bottle are genuine, and which are fake.

Some readers have left comments describing the difference between the authentic and fake, but often referring to a 2009 eBay description. However, that was more than a decade ago and it makes sense that the manufacturer has changed the label and packaging since then.

A new Chinese herbal retailer

After a couple of readers said they got it from Rootandspring.com, I wrote to ask about the version they are selling, and if it’s authentic.

I got a reply from Cindy, who agreed for me to publish her reply:

We obtain our inventory of Suifan’s Kwang Tze Solution directly from their sole distributor in the U.S. Our distributor is the only confirmed distributor in the U.S. and has a longstanding record with Suifan’s Medicine: they have provided to reputable companies over ten years before and after the rebrand of the product, and we’ve seen verification of the exclusive relationship they have with the manufacturer. For these reasons we have no reason to doubt its authenticity.
There seems to be a discrepancy of information on the web. I do think its worthwhile to clear it up. Yes, they’ve tweaked the formula a few years ago, it is now lighter in color and they’ve had a packaging rebrand, but it all still has the same ingredients and comes from the same manufacturer (Suifan’s Medicine) in Hong Kong. It may be worthwhile for you to review the current Suifan’s Kwang Tze formula on your website since the old one has been discontinued and no longer in existence, to see if you agree with the assessment above. I think sometimes, because the look and formula has changed over the last few years, a few customers assume it is fake. This is not the case, the product is not fake, just updated, and I have confirmed this directly.

Since then, I’ve bought their version, and also one from lovehoney.co.uk to see how they compare. In the photo below you can see both versions. The yellow label is from Root And Spring, and the blue label is from Love Honey.

Update about where it’s sold

Every couple of years, I update this article (I first wrote it a very long time ago) with some current information about where it’s sold.

In May 2022, I found versions of it on these sites:

  1. Thanks for sharing this Ethan. I had used it way back in 2013, 2014, when it was available as original and I could really last for 30 mins or more.

    I bought again so called “original” again in 2019, this one is said to be improved version with lesser sensation, however this didn’t work as well as the old versions.
    This had slight sensation but the time I could last was also very less.

    Any idea if the old version be ever be produced?
    Where can one get the old version in the UK?

      Honestly, I think it’s very hard to say which ones now – if any at all – are like the old ones or if they will make it again. 5-10 years is a long time in the sex product world. Currently, I don’t have any information on whether you can get an authentic one in the UK.

  2. The real china brush factory has been shut down by the health organization in China there are only fakes now being sold in the black market so please be careful on a global level no more real bottles out there sorry to disappoint anyone who is trying to convince you otherwise.
    the fake one is much lighter smells the same but has no effect does not work or not waste your money.

        We were buying direct from the factory in HK. Then it all stopped. Every Chinese reseller knows that it has been discontinued, go to any China town in your city and try to find it, see the responses you will get and they will offer you pills now to ingest as an alternative. If you try to buy from China mainland, all resellers in China will tell you in advance the products they offering are fake but identical in look. The fake is a lighter version and does not work period. Dont waste your money guys.

      That’s the hope many people have! I think there’s the potential for it to help with confidence, and perhaps reduce how much that and stress affects your performance. But I’m not sure if there’s evidence that it can retrain the brain. You’d have to do some digging online for research into premature ejaculation – of which there is a surprisingly large amount if you have the time and patience to trudge through it all!

    So I just got a update on this whole China brush thing I spoke to a seller who told me that suifans factory closed down like 5 years ago but the new product on the market which is suppose to be like the old solution is called Seifans Kwang I’m not to sure if it’s the real deal but might try it and see how well it does

    • Look, if you want to have porn star sex (Literally) for hours then this is what you’re looking for. I normally make 2 applications in a circular motion, never wash it off, wait about 1-1.5 hrs and let the hammer fest begin. Only down side is I didn’t climax last couple of times….but she was begging me to hurry up and I was steady dropping the hammer down…..titties flying!!!

      I’ll be updating the article in-depth soon, but to answer your question, I have tested both versions more than once now and to be honest wasn’t hugely impressed by either.
      The yellow one from rootandspring had the original style wooden application stick, with bits in the mixture. It also came with an authentic looking instruction leaflet. So in appearance it seemed more authentic, but it didn’t sting or burn at all and didn’t do much more than a very light numbing. The Lovehoney one – the larger bottle – had a plastic application stick, and did sting a little like the original. But it didn’t do a lot for me either – perhaps a little numbing again, but very light.
      So, maybe it was just me, but neither seemed hugely effective.

      • I have bought 2 bottles since Xmas and they didn’t work. I emailed Lovehoney and they said the numbing agent has been removed due to new laws. Don’t waste your money.

      I haven’t seen that site until now, so I couldn’t tell you. It seems like someone set up a website just to sell that one product, and there’s not much info. about who created it, so I don’t know what to say! I haven’t tried Tong Balm, but will add it to my list!

        • No problem. Try the links at the end of the article as I got it from both of those to try it. These websites do sometimes change their supplier though, so it’s not always easy for me to say with certainty if it’s still authentic!
          Like all desensitizing products, there can be some erection problems but it really depends on the person I think. Some guys are fine, others really struggle with it. You just have to try it and see. It might feel a little tingly after applying it – again, only way to know is to try it I’m afraid. But yes, it could help you last longer and hopefully will!

          I doubt LoveHoney would supply a fake product as they are a reputable store. I might drop them a line and ask them though.
          I’d wait 10-15 mins and then wash it off. If it doesn’t work, maybe try keeping it on longer next time.

  12. I asked a sidewalk cigarette seller in Saigon Vietnam for delay sex medicine, if you see condoms display with cigarettes and it’s the guy.     After reading all the positive comments i was able to order china brush from love honey. I suffer from severe pe and i hardly last for a minute or so. Today i tried it and applied it on the head of the penis and left it for two hours and washed it with water. But unfortunately for me it didnt work neither i had any tingling sensation and as usual i dint lasted for long. I didnt see any difference. The insturction manual only said to apply a thin layer. Should i apply this product to the head as well as the shaft of the penis? I really want this to work for me, also next if i dont wash before it will it be more potent? Hoping for your reply.

  14. I used China brush when the authentic was available. It worked. But that was years ago. I have been unable to find the true China brush. I have tried web sites around the globe and sex shops in Las Vegas…..no luck. Everything I tried was fake. I will try your links and advise.

  18. There was a Hong Kong version and a US version, but both where (most likely exactly) the same. Solstice selling the US version had an exclusive license with Suifan’s Medicine Company to sell the original China Brush in the US. They repackaged everything with the hologram, English labeling etc. for this markets region. So they already own this design etc. All was well. I bought it from Solstice and used it happily.
    Then for some mysterious reason both versions disappeared from the market. Also the suifans.com.sk website disappeared. The Hong Kong version (which is the version most people got from Ebay and in the EU also) never returned! But after a while (1 year?) the US Solstice version, the same version I am well familiar with, did reappear. Kind of awkward, because why was the Hong Kong version along with their website still gone.

    Well, I ordered the recently reappeared US Solstice version again, and received it today. From the outside everything is exactly the same as before. Hologram and all. But from the inside, it has become a totally different product. First of all, it looks different, and secondly this stuff smells totally different. Original smells much more like very strong spicy herbs. New one has an odor of sweet smelling chemicals.

    Now, Solstice isn’t honest about something. They wont tell what happened to the original Hong Kong version / and why Suifan’s Medicine Company and their website suifans.com.sk is gone, and secondly, they just tried to copy the product without messaging that to the public. But of course is copying such an old product correctly, without the exact recipe, not so easy. It is not just the ingredients. It is the amount and the brewing proces / thus the recipe you need to know.

    I tried it on, and after already 10 minutes this stuff made me very scared. While the original version starts slowly emitting a warmth after 30 minutes, and then more tingly. It feels fine and under control. After an hour or two hours, depends on how much I put on it, I take it of and am ready to rock and roll! This new stuff starts stinging en burning very unpleasantly after already 10 minutes! Much more aggressive than I am used to. Now I went immediately to the shower and washed it off with soap and water. But the stinging only got worse. After that I went to the supermarket in a rush. Bought olive oil and milk to get the scary stuff of my penis. Still took 3 hours and 3 rinsings with the oil and milk to get the burning gone! I cannot image what I would have felt if I kept this stuff on for one hour……… Happy now that the burning is gone and I got it off, and I hope that tomorrow everything feels like normal again.

    I am sad because a wonderful product disappeared from the market. And probably no-one knows how to make this stuff exactly the way it was. Btw, the Lovehoney China Brush on your photo’s is also not of the original. Their website shows the original Hong Kong packaging, but they send a knock-off. There is no original anymore. Suifan’s site is gone, there company is probably gone. Something happened, and no-one is telling what went on. Btw, I have bad PE, but this stuff solved it perfectly. And now.. the stuff is gone.. Don’t dare to try the fake Seifen’s version though, but sure that one isn’t original as well.

    I offer my condolences, China Brush as we knew it is gone. The alternatives are too scary, they probably work but dangerous as well. Maybe I am overreacting? But this feels NOT good to me! Then there is Tong Balm, it is much safer too, I tried it many years ago and it works but seems to take three hours to work. That is why I tried China Brush, and that was better. Maybe Tong Balm can work quicker, should try that that out. Hmmz.. The best of them all as I know it, regarding safety and effectiveness was China Brush from Suifan’s. But it is over, the original factory is gone, there website is gone…

    Attached some foto’s of the original (still have one bottle) and the new one, I bought them at Root+Spring which I believe is a honest and good company. But Solstice isn’t. Gonna throw those bottles away. I’ll keep searching for something that can help me from now one. Maybe I ‘ll try new techniques again. If something works I’ll probably let it know to you.       • Hi Ethan. Rootandspring is probably also being cheated by Solstice, who were indeed the US distributor, but the original hong Kong suifan medicine company and their original China Brush is (mysteriously) gone. So they are not distributing the original product anymore. Instead of being honest about this to the public they decided to lie and replace a bad copy of the product inside exactly the same bottle, same hologram everything. The new stuff is very much different in look, smell and working, in my experience it stings very badly.. Not original recipy at all!

  19. I just tried the China Brush, it actually was the Seifen’s Kwang type, (only type you can find in Venezuela. I know everybody said it’s fake but what the heck, better something than nothing i guess) and left it on…… probably since 3:45-10:30pm, it was pretty unconfortable at first but I just thought it was a small price to pay for actually enjoying sex and pleasing my partner (I was aware that it should be washed off but I thought that nothing would happen if i wasn’t going to have intercourse and left it on until i could wash it at home comfortably), so this this time I was just trying it out by myself before trying it out during sex. Well, it’s 11:15pm right now and I can say I still cant feel a thing, I tried masturbating and I could only mantain an erection for about a minute. I did apply it all over the head and since I couldn’t define well what a THIN LAYER ment, I can sincerely say I applied WAY TOO MUCH, i’ll be trying again soon with a more discreet amount and just around the base of the head and the fernelum, and hope this numbing goes away soon, or i’ll defintely be going to a doctor. This said, even though it did numb WAY to much, I think I used it improperly, but just for the sake of numbing, IT WORKED. I’m excited and hope next time it works better and I can mantain my erection. I feel good times are coming (pun intended) or not coming?? (pun intendend). Sorry for any bad English.

      Oh, sorry to hear you had that experience! It’s something I hear a lot on this website, in comments about various different sprays. Sprays always have the risk of too much numbing, but when left on too long without any washing, it can be a big problem.
      As you say though, the positive is that it works. Now it’s a case of trying a smaller amount in a more controlled way in the hope that it works better next time.

  20. I’m an user of the old formula and admit I’m one of those who said the new formula is fake. The old formula was much stronger to me. I was able to avoid any pain or burn by using a thin layer and it kept me going. This new stuff doesn’t seem to work. I’ll also say I’m hesitant to put much on for fear of burns and other irritations others have mentioned.

  21. It is not hard to find a legit China Brush. The reason a lot of people said it not work because it wasn’t the same like it used to be. For some people that said it work because of different level of sensitivity on the penis. For example in my case, I experienced very bad PE. I am lucky if I can last more than a few minutes. So this legit product is not work for me and others. Someone people on here said it work for them, I guess they only have mild level of sensitivity. As I mentioned earlier that this stuff used to work for me. It’s because they used the original recipe. Since 2011 I been buying China Product now and then with no luck. This recipe or what else they did to it is not the same and not working.
    The reason why it is different now vs. prior year 2011. I think because too many customers complain that it too numb, burn, hot, etc…. I just wish that they keep the original recipe and make another mild version.

    • You may want to try more then one application 60 minutes apart 3 hours before game time. Wash it off at least 30 minutes before tip off. You have to try different techniques to find what works for you.

  22. Tried it last weekend and didn’t rate it that much. It did work, but the tingling wouldn’t go away for ages.

So if you put it on before you go to bed , does that mean it works for the entire day onne you get up and does it make you harder longer even when your not going to have sex verse when you are about to have sex and does it last the whole day until after you have sex???? Should I put it on for the whole day and it remains the same until I wash it off???

      To be honest, I’m not sure! Does it have anything that looks like a date on the bottle or box? I imagine it will have an expiry, as most products do. But how long that will be, I just don’t know.

      Unfortunately, no matter how much interest people still have in this product, I can’t find any reliable source selling it. If you don’t mind what ingredients it has, I recommend Promescent. But if you’re looking for one with similar ingredients to China Brush, I really don’t know any. Sorry!

  35. Hi I just bought the product Chinese brush n have read much comments from your site. A question I would like to ask. After applying the product when is the right time to wash it off before sex

      Does it come with instructions you can understand? If so, follow those because it might depend on the particular version you have. If not, I would be tempted to wash it off after just 20 minutes the first time, and see if it works. If not, and you don’t get an unpleasant sensation, perhaps try for longer next time.

      That’s a good question! At the moment I can’t recommend a source with 100% certainty that it’s authentic. I know some guys have left comments with ideas of where to get it, but I can’t back them up myself. I’d keep checking with reputable online sex shops like lovehoney, but really, my advice is to think about alternatives if it’s not easily available.

          I don’t think China Brush is the right product for you. It sounds like you might be better off with an erectile dysfunction product. Have you tried anything like viagra, or penis pumps for example?
