At a glance

Stud 100 is a strong desensitizing spray that consistently helped me last several minutes longer during sex. It’s a convenient treatment for premature ejaculation that’s easy to use, takes action quickly, and is available without a prescription.

As with all delay sprays, you might get a tingling sensation from the lidocaine or have difficulty maintaining an erection if you apply too much. So it’s a good idea to start with a small amount until you find the dose that works best for you.

Pros

  • Strong numbing helps you cope with the physical stimulation of sex.
  • Only need to apply it 5-15 mins before sex.
  • Metered pump gives consistent doses.
  • Can be used with oral sex.
  • Can be used with or without a condom.
  • Available without a prescription.
  • Low cost per spray.

Cons

  • Some initial trial and error is needed to get the dosage right.
  • May temporarily affect erection quality if you use too much.
  • Can give a tingling sensation.
  • Not a permanent cure for premature ejaculation.

My experience

I ordered a bottle of Stud 100 from Amazon, which seems to be the main site it’s sold on and the price was very reasonable at under $15.

I was pleased to see that the bottle has a metered pump so you can apply a similar amount each time. Not all sprays (and no gels) have this useful feature to help you get the dosage right.

I sprayed the head of my flaccid penis once and gently rubbed it in, paying attention to the tip and frenulum which is where I’m most sensitive. I waited for 10 minutes, then wiped myself with a damp cloth to remove any residue.

I could definitely feel a good amount of numbing even before the 10 minutes was up. The numbing sensation of Stud 100 seemed similar to most other strong lidocaine sprays I’ve used, which isn’t a surprise as many of them use the same active ingredient.

My partner is always up for trying new sex products with me, so once the 10 minutes were up, we got down to some testing.

It helped me last a few minutes longer

Stud 100 worked well the first time we had sex using it, helping me last several minutes longer. One evening later that week, I was able to last more than 10 minutes, which is a considerable improvement on my usual under five minutes.

I was still able to feel pleasure, which is of course very important. However, the sensation was considerably dulled on the penis head with the numbing. That always happens with lidocaine sprays and is to be expected.

There’s always a trade-off between pleasure reduction and longer sex with these sprays, so on the whole I was happy enough with Stud 100. There’s more to sex than just the physical pleasure you feel on the tip of your penis.

For me, it’s very important to be able to give my partner the chance to enjoy longer sessions of intercourse. She agrees, of course.

Getting the right dosage

I also experimented with two and three sprays on different days. Two was ok, but perhaps a little too strong. Three was total overkill, making it difficult to get an erection, especially when I rubbed it into the shaft as well.

So personally, one spray is the sweet spot for me, which is good as it means the bottle will last longer. The dosage will vary from person to person though, so you might find you need two, three, or even more sprays. It’s why I suggest experimenting on your own first, as you don’t want to use any more than is necessary.

Fine for oral and condoms

Stud 100 has a light smell, which all lidocaine sprays do. If you’re worried about it, have a shower instead of just wiping off the excess. As long as you wait a few minutes for it to absorb, even a long shower won’t stop the numbing effect and it will get rid of any lingering smell.

It was also fine for oral sex as long as I wiped the excess and waited for it to absorb. My partner had no complaints about the smell or taste, and didn’t feel any numbing to her mouth.

You can use Stud 100 with or without a latex condom, which is always a plus from this type of spray.

Tingling sensation

All lidocaine sprays give me a bit of a tingling sensation, but it’s usually mild. Nothing as extreme as some of the more unusual products that give you a “get it off me!” feeling.

So all in all, Stud 100 was at the light tingling end of the spectrum and was tolerable.

Verdict

Stud 100 worked for me in a similar fashion to the other good delay sprays that use lidocaine as the active ingredient. Like Promescent, Dynamo, and K-Y, I think it’s one to try if you need to reduce your sensitivity.

It’s good that it has the metered pump, you can still have oral sex, and it’s fine with or without a condom. These are some of the basic usability points I look out for.

Unlike some of the less impressive sprays out there, it absorbs quite well and doesn’t have too much of a chemical smell, so you can use it fairly discreetly before you have sex.

One final point in its favor is that it’s not as expensive as some of my other top-rated sprays. So if you’d like to test a decent spray without spending too much money, Stud 100 is a good choice.

Further information

Who makes Stud 100?

Stud 100 is manufactured in the U.K. by Pound International. They’ve been making and selling it since the 1970s, making it the oldest desensitizing spray I’ve seen.

Stud 100 Ingredients

  • Lidocaine Base USP 9.6% (the active ingredient)
  • Isopropyl Myristate
  • Stearic Acid
  • 2-(2-Ethoxyethoxy) ethanol
  • Fragrance

Is it safe?

The manufacturer states that Stud 100 is FDA compliant, meaning they adhered to the standards set for male desensitizing sprays. It hasn’t undergone clinical trials though, so there is no official safety data.

The manufacturer also says it’s safe for use during oral sex. But be sure to wait at least 10-15 minutes after application to avoid the risk of numbing your partner’s mouth.

Lidocaine can on rare occasions cause problems for some people. Stud 100 is unlikely to cause any problems at such small doses, but be careful not to use too much of it in one session.

Finally, if your partner is pregnant or you’re trying to conceive, I wouldn’t use this or any other desensitizing spray.

How long does it last?

I found it lasts for up to two hours. This will probably vary from person to person. It means you can apply it long before you have sex if you like, which helps reduce the mood killer of having to stop to apply the spray just when things are heating up in the bedoom.

How do you use it?

You’re supposed to spray it onto your penis head (the exposed head). Rub it in, then wait 5 to 15 minutes. You can also spray the whole shaft if you think it will help better. Some trial and error is always a good idea to find the balance between numbing the sensitivity and not killing your erection completely because you can’t feel a thing.

Personally, I think it’s a good idea to wipe off any excess, especially if you have oral sex or don’t use a condom.

You can use a damp cloth or towel, your hand and running water in the sink, or have a shower. It doesn’t matter what you do as long as you get rid of any liquid that didn’t absorb before you put it in contact with your partner’s sensitive areas.

  1. Hi there
I used stud 100 twice in a week last month when I was on vacation. The first attempt it worked superb. after one day when I apply it for more fun with my partner between intercourse the penis got down and lose the strength and power and it’s been 4 months I m waiting for miracles to happen so that my penis came into same strength and power the way it was before… is this side effect
I mean the timing was okay but it wasn’t standing properly

    • Hi
Do you mean you haven’t been able to get an erection for 4 months since using the spray? I don’t think that could be related to the spray, and there is probably something else causing it. I would speak to your doctor about this to check there isn’t a physical cause of your sudden erectile dysfunction.
Sorry to hear you’ve had this worrying experience, and I hope you find a solution.

    • Hi Dave
As far as I know you can combine the two. If anything, the viagra might help overcome the problem delay sprays sometimes have with erection loss due to the numbing. If that’s an issue, I would use less spray if combining it with viagra.

  2. Hie
Is it good for maintaining erection of the penis or it’s just for the lasting?
And is it available at any local pharmacy?

    • Hi Ryan
I think there’s a chance you’ll struggle with it. But since it’s relatively inexpensive, you might like to try it a couple of times and see. I guess it depends what causes your erection problems and if reducing sensitivity will be the final nail in the coffin or not.

  3. Sir can I use it without a condom? If i have sex without condom, does it cause problem for women? What spray won’t make problems?

  4. If I wash it off after about 10 mins, won’t I be washing away the spray?? Can I use it without washing it off?

    • Hi
No, the spray will have taken action by then, and you can’t wash it off once it affects the nerve endings under the skin. You can use it without washing it off, but only with a condom. And it’s better to at least give it a quick wipe with a cloth.

  5. Hi,
I want to receive oral (foreplay) before intercourse, but I don’t want my gf’s mouth to get numb. After 10 min of spraying it on, if I wash it thoroughly with soap and warm water to get rid of the odor/taste so that it’s safe for my gf to give me oral, would it still be effective?

    • Hi Don
Yes, it will still be effective. I’ve experimented with waiting that long and having a long hot shower with soap, and it still works fine. Once these sprays are absorbed into the skin, they stay working until they wear off, not when you wash them off. So there’s no problem there.
      Ethan

  6. Hi I have this problem whenever I go to massage parlour and during the foreplay my penis is not half erect and I ejaculate. will stud 100 help me with full erect ejaculation also should I apply it when my penis is flacid?

    • Hi Is
I don’t think it’s going to help in this situation. My thought is that it’s probably more psychological. You could try it though if you want to, but you might find it makes it even more difficult for you to get a full erection because of the numbing. It can be applied either flaccid or erect, but if you have erection problems, it might be better to wait until you’re erect.
      Ethan

  7. Hi..after spraying snd waitin 10 to 15 min should i wash it with warm water only or i should use shampoo as well? And spray only the top not the whole penis?

    • Hi Ash
Just warm water will work fine. I wouldn’t use shampoo, but maybe a mild soap if you want to get rid of any smell or taste. And yes, usually it’s just the top of the penis you spray.

  8. I ordered some stud100 on thursday and it turned up yesterday morning and i was excited to test it . I suffer from PE since having swine flu 6 years ago and having to take nerve damage medication the side efect is my penis head is 100 times more sensitive when i have sex im lucky to last 1min , when i have a tug its around the same time .

As i am single i didnt realy want to try it out alone so i went to my local massage parlor and booked 1 hour with a stunning blonde , 10 mins before i put 5 sprays onto my penis head and rubbed it all in around the sides and over the head .
I found it starts to go numb after around 5 mins .

15 mins later i was in the bedroom naked having a nice massage from the sexy bloned my penis was tingling a little bit and i had a semi hard on , after 10 mins or so of foreplay i put on a condom and started to have sex with her doggy normally this would last maybe a min , 10 mins later i was still rock hard and banging away so i asked to change to cow girl , 10mins later i still havnt cum , time to change too her on her back legs up around my neck , another 10 or so mins and still i havnt popped my load . I then asked for a bj , she sucked away for easy 10 mins and then started to use her hand so off with the condom and some baby oil was put on my penis and the handjob started it got to the point were i was going to pop and i did . im over the moon with stud 100 cant wait to use it again . i went from 1min to close to 1hour with 5 pumps of the bottle .

    • Hi there
It sounds like it had a pretty miraculous effect for you! Going from 1 min to that long is an impressive change. That’s the thing with these sprays – sometimes they work wonders, other times not so much. I guess if you have a problem of being extremely sensitive, one that does a good job of numbing is going to have a good chance of success.
      Ethan

    • Hi Ulises
As far as I can work out, it should be fine. Looking at the drugs.com website, they say this: “Lidocaine is not expected to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants. No special precautions are required.”

  9. sir please gave me a suggestion for stud 14000 spray how can use it and please say how much time do sex at a day with this spray??

  10. Hi Ethan,

I use Stud 100 and it works usually. Recently I’ve been going limp in the middle of sex and cannot continue afterwards. What do you recommend (I’m using 2 sprays)? Also, if I combined Stud 100 with a Viagra will I maintain the usual erection Viagra gives? Thanks.

    • Hi Jason
I know the feeling! Or should I say lack of feeling…
Try using 1 spray, or even just spraying your finger or into a glass and dabbing less than a full spray.
I think if you combine the two, there’s a good chance you’ll maintain the erection once you get it in the first place. Maybe try the viagra first, get a good erection, then apply the spray and wait a while before washing off, and then continue with sex.
      Ethan

    • yeah you can use it with Viagra it will help. I use to use Viagra ,without any delay sprays, and just come first and I can continue the second round without losing my erection. But when you come first you really just have to release and try to not pay attention on the good feeling otherwise it will go down. :) But I noticed that after using Viagra , it did teach me how to maintain the erection for the second round even if I didn’t use Viagra. because I didn’t use it all the time when I had sex , because it is hard to know when my partner wants it.

  11. What happen if you spray stud 100 but then realize that it expired 2 years ago and during that time forget to wash it off after sex till 8 to 10 hours after also during that time you did cover up with a blanket to cuddle but then next day your penis wouldn’t stand up when you want it too as if it’s sleep still ? only when your looking at porn and playing with it for about 10-15 minutes then it would start to get up but not as strong ? as normal and no morning boner but still have the feeling over and over again to have sex but penis is not responding with how you feel. 7 days and still counting can you please shine some light on this matter for me thank you in advance.

    • Hi Shanton
I’m not sure exactly what effect the 2 year expiry has, as I’ve never done that. I imagine the main result would be that it just didn’t work. However, it seems in your case it did still work! As for the next day erection problem, that can happen with strong sprays if you apply too much – some men are more sensitive to the effects and it takes longer to wear off. However, it shouldn’t be an issue a week later. I’d suggest speaking to your doctor if the problem persists.
      Ethan

  12. I prefer promescent because stud100 makes me way way too numb. Promescent doesn’t transfer to my partner.

    • Hi Augy
Thanks for sharing your view, and comparison of the two sprays. I think Stud 100 can work too, it just needs to be used very carefully to prevent too much numbing or transference.
      Ethan

  13. Hi
I used to masturbate a lot because of relationship problems but when I engage in sex my first erection seems to be well at least enough to penetrate but I ejaculated within just a seconds after penetrating then I lose my erection completely after ejaculation I want to know can I use the spray and not to have any effects on loosing erection and this time am going to meet my new girlfriend am scared to be ashamed if I can have sex with hér help me plz

    • Hi Shaw
Well, it’s normal to lose your erection after ejaculating – this spray isn’t going to stop that! Hopefully it can help you last longer though, which is what the real problem is by the sound of it. Give it a go, as you’ll only find out through some trial and error.
      Ethan

  14. Hey! Thanks for the review! Do you know if it will be twice as hard to go for another round after the first pop, if you used Stud 100 beforehand?

    • Hi J
You’re welcome. I don’t think it will necessarily be twice as hard to go again – as long as you don’t apply too much. And it all depends on different factors anyway, such as your libido, age, health etc.
      Ethan

  15. how hot does a dick has to be when use the spray but doesn’t do you need to wash it before you have sex?

  16. I tried this spray after reading your review and yes it does take some experimenting to get the dose right, but once you do it works well. It does numb quite a lot though so if you’re the overly sensitive type of chap it can help a lot.

    • Hi Henry
It’s good to know my reviews are taken seriously then! Thanks for sharing your experience too, it’s something I know other readers will appreciate.
      Ethan

  17. Hi Ethan
I first used Stud 100 last night. I have a good erection and then we decided to have sex. I was keen to last long as I always ejaculate too early. I used one spray but then lost my erection. May be I should apply it 20 mins earlier before sex n Wah it. Please advise. Thanks Ved

    • Hi Ved
That can happen sometimes, unfortunately. I think 10 mins is fine, and if you wash the residue off it should make sure you don’t numb yourself too much. Perhaps it was also the strangeness of using a spray that caused the loss of passion in the moment!
      Ethan

  18. Helo Ethan, I have an unusual question for you. My husband always ejaculates very quickly, so we’ve been talking about trying some sprays. I thought I’d get one to try, but want to make sure we can use it without a condom, during oral and any other way we feel like. How usable is Stud 100 in this way?
Thanks very much for the review and site by the way – I’ve learned lots from you!
    Sue

    • Hi Sue
First of all, I’m glad the site has been helpful. It’s not often I hear from female readers, so always appreciate a comment from one! Stud 100 is one of the more versatile ones, fortunately. You can use it with oral and you don’t need to use a condom. As long as he follows the instructions correctly, i.e. washes it off after waiting 15 mins for it to absorb, you should be fine.
      Ethan

  19. Hi ethan thanks for your reply..ive purchased the spray today..will b using it from saturday hopefully..it says that it shouldnt be repeatedley used for 3 months ..is that also in the case if im having sex just twice in a week?or in my case could i use it longer than 3 months??

    • Hi Omair
No problem! That’s a good question actually, and to be honest, I’m not sure what the answer is! I imagine if you don’t use it that often, it will probably be fine to use it for longer. But just to be sure, I would contact the company and ask them what they advise.
      Ethan

  20. Hi
If i was to use this product for oral sex with a flavoured condom..will it transfer and will my partner be able to taste the spray??

    • Hi there
Yes, there are always ways to try and boost the erection again – so hopefully if the spray does result in some erection loss, you can try to counteract it.
      Ethan

  21. Hey,

I just bought and tried this spray, it didn’t do very much for me (I think), I’ve only tried it once, sprayed it on the head and a bit lower and it did get numb, kind of weird not to have feeling in that area..it didn’t really delay much although I felt that I had better control over my climax, meaning I could ‘stop’ it where I otherwise wouldn’t be able to do this, but after I halted my climax it would come right back. I’ve noticed now tho’ that my most sensitive area seems to be the lower area of the shaft, is this possible? And would you recommend spraying on that area then or wouls this mess with mh erection? Didn’t have any problems getting erect the first time tho..

    Thanks!

    • Hi Sam
It might need a bit of experimenting to see if you can get it to work better for you. There’s nothing to stop you spraying it on the lower part of the shaft – just don’t spray too much perhaps at first and see if it affects your erection. In terms of control, maybe you’re stopping a bit too late. If you feel yourself getting aroused, try to take action a little sooner as that might avoid the urge coming back so soon after changing positions, taking a rest or whatever you decide to do to pull back from the brink of ejaculation.
      Ethan

  22. Hi Sid
It’s very normal for the penis not to be completely straight, so personally I wouldn’t worry about it unless it’s really bending severely. I’m not sure how effective it would be, but you could try masturbating in a way that naturally bends it to the other side during the action, then just hope over the coming months it changes angle. But as I said, I really don’t know how well this works!
    Ethan

  23. Hi,

As per your article u have to use before 20 – 30 minutes. while at the time of erection or non erection.

    • Hi Rakesh
It doesn’t matter whether it’s erect or not, though it’s most likely to be not. The main thing is to apply it that time before you engage in sexual stimulation.
      Ethan

  24. Can it be used while wearing a condom? I mean is it safe for condoms or will they be more likely to rupture?

    • Hi there
Thanks for your comment. Yes, it’s fine to use with a condom and shouldn’t make it more likely to rupture as far as I’m aware.
      Regards

  25. I have similar issues, I always lose my erection after using desensitizing sprays so I virtually have to wait for the effect to wear off to be able to use such sprays, but the issue at the moment is that my erection ain’t as firm and turgid like it used to be, am thinking it could be attributed to the use of such sprays especially since I have gone for medical evaluation and everything seems normal, am really concerned

    • Hi Kemmy
Thanks for your comment. I think if you have that kind of reaction to sprays, you’re either using too much or they just aren’t the right solution for you. I doubt that using sprays would have had a permanent effect on your erection strength. It could be a psychological issue you’ve developed due to the worry about not getting an erection. My advice would be to stay away from sprays and try the natural techniques instead. They should also help restore your confidence. And just in case, I’d also look online for ideas about erectile dysfunction as you might find that your problem is unrelated and can be helped by following some advice to deal with that.
      Regards
      Ethan

    • Hi John
I think it will work if applied that long before, yes. The instructions should tell you what to do, assuming it came wih instructions when you bought it?
      Regards
      Ethan

  26. I have problem with using delay spray. Every time I used it, after numb, I lost my erection. But I can have a proper erection if I am not using delay spray. I need to use Viagra to help my erection if I want to use delay spray. Is the spray too strong or it is my own problem? Thanks. Coz after numb my penis feel nothing…………….

    • Hi Kikk

There would be various reasons for this. I would recommend firstly trying to use less spray. It could just be that you’re applying too much. And if that’s not the case, then try and use a different spray. If it continues to be a problem with other sprays, then you’ll know that for whatever reason, they just aren’t suited to you.
      Regards
      Ethan
